FMFB Festival 2006
Call for submissions!
The stage is set and the FilmMusicFashion&Babes Festival 2006 is coming full
force and ready to be a major player. FMFB started hosting the
OriginalSessions Film&Music Series back in 2000 out of a little club known as
LoveSexy in
Hoboken, NJ.
While programming and screening indie films alongside nights of live original
music sometime in between 2000 and 2001 OriginalSessions Film&Music Series
was able to provide grass roots promotions for a little film known as "Amores
Perros" which was being distributed by Lions Gate Films.
In 2002 OriginalSessions Film&Music Series was able to get an advanced copy
of another indie film know as "Y Tu Mama Tambien" through a friend that was
employed @ IFC Films. "Y Tu Mama Tambien" was unofficially screened prior to
release to about 40 filmmakers
in that tiny little club known as Lovesexy in Hoboken, NJ. and that was the
beginning of setting the stage for the FMFB Festival.
In July 2003 the FMFB Festival was launched out of its headquarters in Times
Square NYC at an arts space then known as "Le Club Show World" which currently
serves as home base for the world famous "Laugh Factory"
03,04,05 were very low key years and FMFB has been keeping a low profile
screening films for emerging [completely] independent filmmakers.
It has been a long time coming! 2006 is the year for the FMFB Festival and we
are here to rock the worlds of FilmMusicFashion&Babes The FMFB Festival 2006
is here so do not get left behind!

FilmMusicFashion&Babes is a web based magazine, coalition/online community,
print magazine and festival out of NYC. Intended for the general public but
first and foremost for filmmakers by filmmakers, for musicians by musicians, for
fashion designers by fashion designers, for thespians and models by thespians
and models. We are dedicated to the celebration of our art and dedicated to
providing the brightest emerging talent with an outlet to publicize, promote,
and showcase (Original Sessions) their brand of artistic talent. FMFB features
established and emerging talent in their respective fields. Our goal is to
maximize the level of exposure the brightest emerging talent deserves while
providing a service for established talent.
It does not matter what level of this game we call entertainment one is in,
the bottom line is creating our art, having it come to life while staying
within budget. Whether DIY or doing it with other people's money, we have to face
up to the fact that art needs funding. The key is delivering a great finished
product while staying within budget.
The idea came to me while spending some time on the set of the HBO production
of The Meyer Lansky Story. Fred Zollo and his partner decided to cut costs by
having a singer do a cover of a Jazz song they were using in a scene. The
licensing rights for the original were extremely high. They gave a complete
unknown singer a shot at the big time and they cut their costs. Everybody walked
away happy and the producers kept their costs down.
Filmmakers need actors and models, fashion designers for wardrobe and music
to set tone and mood. Whether filmmaker, musician, fashion designer, model or
thespian, we all need each other. We intend on bridging the gap between
established and emerging talent by featuring both side by side.
The festival will take place in NYC/NJ September 12-17. As a prelude to the
festival we are hosting monthly events in NYC and NJ. Under the banner of our
film&music series aptly called OriginalSessions. We are not going to be like
other festivals where there will be a competition or panels to attend. The
festival is going to be about the celebration of our art, film screenings, band
showcases, fashion shows, actors showcases, parties and networking. It is all
about taken our careers into our hands.
Since we are also in over 12 satellite territories nationwide under the
banner of the OS Film&Music Series & the OS National Band Search. We are using this
platform as an outlet for filmmakers to receive national film distribution on
a completely independent level. Bands benefit as well since they are able to
gain national band status through gig trading with bands from the satellite
territories that are participating in the OS National Band Search.
