Synopsis:
An
urban allegory shot on digital video
and Super 16 comprising The NewJacks,
The OldJacks, The Kings Wife.
The
NewJacks and The OldJacks revolve around
the brothers Kenny and Robert Leonardo.
The women in their lives, Virginia Muerte
and Margaret La Blanca. Friends Darryl
Rubio, Ronnie Mulatto, Euridice La Negra,
Louis, Jaime Espana and Manny Elindio
Todopoderoso.
The
NewJacks:
Kenny,
Darryl and Ronnie are long time buddies
who are drifting apart after the loss
of a dear friend. Darryl wants to take
to the ways of the streets and climb
the ranks of crime.
Kenny
is a nice kid in love with Virginia.
He wants to do well in school and he
has a budding interest in poetry, he
wants no part in joining Darryl in his
quest.
Ronnie
is a quiet shy kid caught in the middle
who also has to face up to fact that
his mother is a drug fiend party girl.
Darryl
decides and manages to set Kenny up for
a downfall. The conflict comes to a head
when Darryl convinces Ronnie that the
only way they are going to make names
for themselves is by taking to the way
of the streets and climbing up the ranks
of crime. He strongly believes it does
not matter if a person is good or bad. "In
the end we all end up in the same place,
a grave".
The
OldJacks:
Robert
is consumed by a secret life style and
is troubled by his younger brothers associations.
He has been sleeping with Margaret LaBlanca
but does not want to make their relationship
public. Margaret decides things have
to change and makes Robert aware of how
she is feeling. His friends, Jaime has
a drug problem, Louie has issues at home
and Manny? Well, lets just say he's another
pea in this pod of losers.
The
NewJacks and The OldJacks deal with Christian
guilt, the effects of colonization, incest
and the one universal constant we cant
escape, our mortality. All of the characters
are at points in their lives where they
have to make serious choices.
The
Kings Wife
This
piece is in development and is the sole
project of John Vincent Vargas. Yeah,
this is the piece that is raising the
bar.
